About us:
Stegra, formerly know as H2 Green Steel, is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. But this is just the beginning – our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize other industries in addition to steel, and we look forward to what’s next in store for us.

Head of Accounting & Financial Control – Stegra
We're seeking a Head of Accounting and Financial Control to lead and oversee the financial accounting and compliance functions within the organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is part of the Finance & Legal management team and plays a pivotal role in driving Stegra’s financial performance and regulatory compliance.
We're looking for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with a strong background in leading financial controlling teams and a proven ability to implement efficient financial systems and processes. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, continuously seeking improvements while demonstrating exceptional team-building skills within the finance domain.
A strong digital presence and the ability to integrate and develop functionalities to optimize financial systems and processes are essential. Experience in designing and implementing systems and building scalable processes will be invaluable as Stegra continues to expand its financial capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting function by overseeing and enhancing accounting processes, internal controls, and financial systems.
- Drive improvements in reporting timelines, reporting quality, and overall efficiency.
- Ensure statutory financial reports are accurate and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, ensuring timely and efficient audits of financial statements.
- Develop and manage the financial calendar, ensuring alignment across the organization.
- Provide strategic frameworks to simplify and drive financial controlling and accounting functions during a period of rapid growth and transformation.
- Identify and address key issues, leveraging the existing team’s strengths while building additional capabilities within the finance function.
Key Skills & Experience:
- University degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or equivalent.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in a senior finance role with leadership responsibilities, such as Finance Manager, Divisional CFO, or Head of Accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Swedish accounting principles, IFRS, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience leading accounting and/or financial controlling teams in complex organizations.
- Familiarity with capital-intensive industrial production is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Auditing experience is preferred.
- ERP system expertise, particularly for financial reporting, is essential.
- Fluency in English is required; Swedish is meriting.
