About us:
Stegra, formerly know as H2 Green Steel, is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. But this is just the beginning – our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize other industries in addition to steel, and we look forward to what’s next in store for us.

Compliance Engineer
The Compliance Engineer plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing Stegra's Pressurized Equipment (PE) and CE-marking strategies. As the steward of PE Directive (PED) and CE-marking policies, you will champion safety, compliance, and innovation while ensuring the seamless integration of systematic processes and cutting-edge digital solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration and leadership. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to own and enhance the compliance of pressure equipment and pipelines within Mill Services. Your expertise will guide process audits, stakeholder training, and the advancement of maintenance practices through the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Beyond technical precision, this role is about creating impact. Your contributions will directly support the safety and well-being of operations while driving organizational excellence. With opportunities to innovate and lead improvements, you will help Stegra build a safer and more sustainable future.
Responsibilities:
- Align maintenance systems with compliance standards to maintain a safe work environment.
- Drive the creation and execution of Stegra's PED and CE-marking strategies, ensuring organizational alignment.
- Develop and implement digital solutions to enhance PED and CE-marking compliance.
- Train employees on compliance policies and deliver materials to improve understanding and efficiency.
- Act as a PED and CE-marking auditor, ensuring adherence, addressing gaps, and driving continuous improvement.
- Work with stakeholders to enhance maintenance systems, align with business and sustainability goals, and drive innovative improvements.
- Provide expert support to the Asset Management team in areas such
as contract management, outsourcing strategies and lifecycle
management. - Lead and manage the compliance of maintenance processes with ISO
9001, 55001 IATF 16949, and other relevant standards.
Qualifications:
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with a solid grasp of maintenance operations.
- Expertise with Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU), Sweden AFS 2016:1, and gas pipelines in the heavy industry.
- Skilled in CMMS, asset information systems, and digital tools for maintenance planning and execution.
- Proven ability to excel in matrix organizations and manufacturing environments, collaborating with large teams (50+ employees).
- Experience with ISO standards (9001/14001/45001/50001) and IATF 16949, ensuring high-quality compliance.
- Very good knowledge of English.
- A role model for safety culture, with strong skills in procurement, outsourcing, and digital maintenance solutions.
