Project Engineer
Do you want to contribute to create positive environmental impact on the society? If so, you can be our next talented employee.
Research shows that women and other under-represented groups within our industry hesitate to apply unless they tick most boxes of a role description. At Stegra, we are building an impact company with sustainability at its core. We need a diverse, inclusive, and authentic team to rally behind our purpose of de-carbonizing hard-to-abate industries, starting with steel.
So, if you are equally passionate about our purpose yet concerned that your experience doesn’t perfectly align with the qualifications stated in the job advert, we strongly encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate, either for this role – or for another upcoming role in our rapidly growing business.
About us:
Stegra is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. But this is just the beginning – our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize other industries in addition to steel, and we look forward to what’s next in store for us.
We are looking for talented, innovative, and purpose-driven people to join our rapidly growing and diverse team. Our employees get to learn everyday, implement the latest technology and test and put their ideas into practice. Together, we are building an impact company with sustainability at its core – for our people, customers, investors, society, and planet.
Project Engineer
As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of civil and early works across one of Europe's largest industrial projects. Working closely with our Groundworks Manager, Construction Teams, EPCM Area Leads, and contractors, you will ensure the effective coordination and readiness of scopes issued for execution.
This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy working at the intersection of engineering and field execution — helping to translate design packages into well-defined workfronts that enable safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the preparation and release of groundworks scopes, ensuring all required deliverables (e.g. IFC drawings, BOQs, execution requirements) are in place prior to handover to contractors.
- Maintain the Groundworks Scope Tracker, capturing inputs from EPCMs, design teams, and planners across all major plant areas.
- Support the rollout and maintenance of a forecast for groundworks activities.
- Facilitate scope clarification by coordinating with engineering, planning, and execution teams.
- Implement and support a structured RFI process between groundworks contractors and engineering stakeholders.
- Assist in aligning groundworks execution with project schedule logic, civil milestones, and interface dependencies.
- Participate in weekly coordination meetings, contributing to progress reporting and issue resolution.
- Help monitor contractor readiness, access conditions, and documentation flow prior to site execution.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical field.
- 3–7 years of experience on large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects, preferably in EPCM or contractor environments.
- Solid understanding of civil construction planning, design documentation, and site execution.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 or similar project planning tools is an advantage.
- Experience with Swedish AMA/AB04 design standards is a plus.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and disciplines.
- Fluency in English required; Swedish is an asset.
