About us:
Stegra, formerly know as H2 Green Steel, is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. But this is just the beginning – our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize other industries in addition to steel, and we look forward to what’s next in store for us.

Health and Safety Engineer
The Health and Safety Engineer is the representative of the Health and Safety department in the individual operating units at our Boden location. They support the assurance of health and safe and effective operations in all areas and facilities in the organization. Each Health and Safety Engineer will have one specific area that they're mainly working closely with, which is listed in the areas further down.
Safety always comes first in Stegra and we're looking for health and safety engineers who aligns with that mindset and who wants to help us continue to build a strong safety environment. You'll support the organization with work environment and safe & effective operations across a specific area within the organization.
We are currently seeking eight (8) Health and Safety Engineers, one for each of the following parts of Boden operations:
- Direct Reduction Plant (Direct Iron Reduction)
- Melt shop (sublocation of Steel Mill) - includes scrap handling, refractories
- Caster (sublocation of Steel Mill)
- Hot Steel Mill (sublocation of Steel Mill)
- Cold Steel Mill (sublocation of Steel Mill - Batch Annealing, Skin Pass mill)
- Galvanization Line (sublocation of Steel Mill), including shipping and packaging
- Hydrogen Manufacturing Plant (Electrolyser)
- Mill Wide Services (All other areas, Maintenance, Warehousing, etc.)
Responsibilities:
The Health and Safety Engineer plays an important role in:
- Supporting implementation of Site Management System and ensure that the system is continually updated and improved
- Improve workplace safety and related 'ways of working' and ensure necessary instructions and standards
- Support Stegra’s commitment to fulfill compliance with all safety regulations and requirements.
- Empower and support implementation of Stegra’s behavior-based safety concept
- Support the line organization in taking their responsibilities in health and safety
- Support investigation of workplace accidents and injuries, internal follow up and communications to the proper authorities.
- Supporting hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and control measures for operations and/or processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, occupational health & safety, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment (heavy or high-risk industrial operations, oil & gas, energy, hydrogen, steel mill, iron reduction plants, manufacturing industries etc.
- Certified education in ISO 45001 and in-depth knowledge of Swedish national safety legislation and industry good practices
- Other relevant training depending on areas of responsibility, such as chemical hazards, occupational hygiene measurements, etc
- Strong knowledge of occupational health, ATEX and machine safety standards.
- Experience developing and working with digital tools to support and digitalize key safety processes
