As a process operator at our new smelter, you will be at the forefront of future steelmaking technology, working with the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that production runs efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with both quality and environmental standards. You will monitor operations closely, quickly identifying and addressing any deviations that could indicate process issues.
This is a technically challenging and highly responsible position, where your focus will be on maintaining a smooth production flow while upholding the highest safety standards. You will work with advanced systems and precision equipment, collaborating with skilled colleagues in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. What you’ll do:
- Operate the steel melting process in the electric arc furnace.
- Control, operate, and maintain the equipment and processes in the smelting workshop.
- Focus on troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems related to the melting processes.
- Verify, document, and record data.Actively contribute to creating a safe working environment by participating in the development and maintenance of process control and safety procedures.
- Be a role model in fostering a culture where safety is always the top priority, and coach and guide less experienced colleagues to create a safe and efficient workplace together.
- You will be entrusted with making decisions and proactively finding solutions.
What you’ll bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Documented qualifications in workplace safety (e.g., OSHA, confined space work, working at heights).
- Experience in developing work methods and participating in development projects.
Hot work certification. - Additional certifications (e.g., driver's license, forklift certification, crane operator certificate, welding certificate) are an advantage.
- Good knowledge of English; basic knowledge of Swedish is a plus.
- Driver's license B.

About Stegra
Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.
By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.
