If you share our passion but don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the perfect fit for this role, or another as we grow.
At Stegra, we’re not just building a plant, we’re proving that sustainable industry is possible. And to do that, we need people like you.
Join a team where safety comes first. Where we support each other, learn as we go, and make space for everyone to grow and contribute. This is your chance to be part of something big - while being closer to nature and leading a balanced, purposeful life.
What you’ll do
Right now, we are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Digital HR and Finance team. In this role, you will report to our Digital Domain Manager and be part of the Digital Enterprise function. You will join a supportive, collaborative environment where we create modern and reliable digital capabilities for our HR and Finance functions.
This role is a great fit for you who have several years of experience as a software developer, especially within backend development, and feel ready to grow into a Solution Architect role. At Stegra, you will have the valuable opportunity to develop into the role together with guidance and close collaboration from our Digital Enterprise Architect. We believe that thoughtful architecture grows from people who understand how digital solutions are built, and your development background will be a strong starting point as you take on a broader, more strategic perspective.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across both business and technical teams. Together, you will explore needs from HR and Finance and turn them into well-designed, future ready technical solutions. Your work will help create architectures that support simplicity, scalability and long-term maintainability.
While you will not focus on writing production code every day, you will be involved in defining backend patterns, supporting development teams and helping align our digital solutions with Stegra’s guiding principles.
Your day-to-day work will include, but not be limited to:
Exploring needs together with HR and Finance teams and shaping them into clear, well-structured technical concepts
Supporting the creation of backend patterns and solution designs that are scalable, intuitive and aligned with Stegra’s digital principles
Breaking down broader problem areas into understandable technical building blocks, roadmaps and development tasks
Collaborating closely with developers to ensure shared understanding of architectural choices and helping teams move forward with confidence
Contributing to integration approaches, data flow designs and API structures that enable smooth communication between systems
Ensuring that security, data protection and access control are naturally embedded in the design of every solution
Working across domains to make sure our technical solutions reflect real business needs and contribute to smooth, intuitive workflows
Engaging regularly with stakeholders to create shared understanding of needs, decisions and expected outcomes
Working closely with our Digital Enterprise Architect and learning how architectural decisions connect to the larger enterprise landscape
What you’ll bring
You are analytical, curious and motivated by creating solutions that work in real life. You enjoy turning complexity into something understandable, and you help others navigate technical decisions with clarity and confidence. You bring a collaborative communication style, and you appreciate environments where people support one another and learn together. You are excited about stepping into a role where you can grow your architectural skills while keeping your technical thinking sharp.
Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below:
A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
Several years of experience as a backend developer, with curiosity to grow into a broader architectural role
Experience contributing to the design or improvement of backend solutions, including APIs or microservice-based systems
Comfort breaking down complex needs into structured, understandable documentation or technical steps
Experience in a lead, coaching, Scrum Master or similar supporting role within a development team
A general understanding of frontend, backend and infrastructure perspectives even if your core strength is backend
Strong communication skills, able to engage across technical and business teams
Prior experience from stakeholder collaboration, planning or providing technical direction to others
Knowledge of HR or Finance processes is helpful, but absolutely not required
Familiarity with architectural frameworks and tools such as ArchiMate or similar is helpful, but absolutely not required

This is Stegra
Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.
By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.
Our Stockholm Office
Our modern Stockholm office is located on Norra Stationsgatan, close to Karolinska University Hospital in central Stockholm. Here, you’ll find a bright, collaborative workspace where cross-functional teams connect, share ideas, and drive progress. Whether you're visiting regularly or working hybrid, you'll be part of a vibrant office culture with easy access to the city’s energy and amenities.
