What you’ll do
Right now, we are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Digital HR & Finance team. In this role, you will report to the Digital Domain Manager and be part of a cross-functional digital team that ensures our Finance and HR functions have the modern digital capabilities they need to power a cutting-edge steel plant.
In this role, you’ll focus on business and solution architecture, translating needs from HR and Finance into well-structured, future-proof technical solutions. Your experience as a backend developer gives you a strong foundation to design scalable architectures and guide development teams in implementation. You’ll work closely with both business and technical teams to ensure that digital solutions are simple, maintainable, and aligned with Stegra’s digital principles.
While you won’t be writing production code day-to-day, you will be hands-on in defining backend structures, ensuring decoupling, and aligning cross-functional development efforts around a shared architecture.
Your day-to-day work will include, but not be limited to:
- Translate business needs into clear backend architectures, with a focus on decoupled microservices and scalable APIs
- Design solution architecture for HR and Finance systems, aligning with the broader enterprise landscape
- Break down large, complex problems into actionable technical roadmaps and development tasks
- Guide and support developers to ensure consistent implementation of architectural principles
- Work across domains to ensure technical solutions reflect real business needs and workflows
- Apply architectural thinking to system integration, data flow design, and API strategies
- Incorporate security, data protection, and access control into system designs
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What you’ll bring
You are analytical, proactive, and motivated by finding solutions that work in practice not just on paper. You enjoy simplifying complexity and making architecture understandable and actionable for others. With a collaborative and respectful communication style, you help teams move forward with confidence. You thrive in agile environments and are eager to keep learning and evolving your craft.
Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below:
- A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience working as a backend developer and within solution architecture
- Experience designing solutions for event-driven microservice architectures
- Familiarity with architectural frameworks and tools (e.g., ArchiMate or similar)
- A track record of translating business needs into clear technical solutions
- Backend development experience using Java, Kotlin, or similar languages
- Strong communication skills, able to engage across technical and business teams
- An understanding of both frontend/backend/infrastructure perspectives, even if your focus is backend
- Prior experience in stakeholder collaboration, delivery planning, or technical team leadership
- Knowledge of HR and/or Finance processes is a plus, but not required

This is Stegra
Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.
By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.
Our Stockholm Office
Our modern Stockholm office is located on Norra Stationsgatan, close to Karolinska University Hospital in central Stockholm. Here, you’ll find a bright, collaborative workspace where cross-functional teams connect, share ideas, and drive progress. Whether you're visiting regularly or working hybrid, you'll be part of a vibrant office culture with easy access to the city’s energy and amenities.
