Category Manager - Mechanical
Do you want to contribute to create positive environmental impact on the society? If so, you can be our next talented employee.
Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At Stegra, we’re building an impact-driven, sustainable company - and we need a diverse, inclusive team to make it happen.
If you share our passion but don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the perfect fit for this role, or another as we grow.
At Stegra, we’re not just building a plant, we’re proving that sustainable industry is possible. And to do that, we need people like you.
Join a team where safety comes first. Where we support each other, learn as we go, and make space for everyone to grow and contribute. This is your chance to be part of something big - while being closer to nature and leading a balanced, purposeful life.
What you’ll do
Right now, we are looking for a Mechanical MRO Category Manager to join our team supporting our operations in Boden. In this role, you will work closely with procurement, maintenance, engineering, and production teams to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply of mechanical spare parts and materials.
This is a key role in supporting our ramp-up, where your work will directly contribute to minimizing downtime, enabling operational stability, and building a scalable procurement foundation for long-term operations.
You will take ownership of developing how we manage spare parts, suppliers, and contracts in a completely new industrial setup — helping us build something from the ground up.
In this role, you will:
Develop and drive the Mechanical MRO category strategy to support ramp-up and ongoing operations
Establish and manage the supplier base and contracts, including sourcing, negotiation, and framework agreements
Ensure availability of critical spare parts to support maintenance and reduce downtime risks
Co-lead the development of spare parts structures and master data, supporting CMMS/asset management implementation
Optimize total cost of ownership while ensuring safety, quality, and supply reliability
Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, production, engineering, and logistics
Identify and manage supply chain risks, ensuring continuity in a dynamic environment
Develop scalable ways of working, processes, and governance within the category
What you’ll bring
You’re someone who takes ownership and thrives in a fast-moving environment. You combine a structured, analytical mindset with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach, and you’re comfortable navigating uncertainty while delivering results.
At Stegra, we value people who collaborate across functions, build trust, and help create solutions that work in real operations — not just on paper.
Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below:
Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or similar (or equivalent experience)
5–10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management, ideally within industrial or MRO environments
Experience working in growing or changing environments, preferably during ramp-up phases
Knowledge of mechanical equipment, spare parts, and maintenance practices
Experience working with ERP and/or CMMS systems is a plus
Understanding of total cost of ownership and supplier management
Strong communication skills in English
Who you are
Self-driven and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership
Pragmatic and solution-oriented, able to balance speed, cost, and quality
Resilient and adaptable in a fast-changing environment
Collaborative, with the ability to work across functions and build strong relationships
Benefits at Stegra

This is Stegra
Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.
By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.
Our Boden Site
Our Boden site is located just west of Boden City, right in the heart of a growing green industrial hub in Northern Sweden. It’s where we’re building one of the world’s most modern, sustainable steel plants—designed with safety, efficiency, and people in mind. With just a 10-minute commute from town, you'll be close to both cutting-edge technology and the everyday convenience of living near nature, schools, and community life.
