Pre-Employment Checks
Everything you need to know
At Stegra, we care about creating a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. As part of our hiring process, we conduct drug and alcohol testing as well as background checks to support workplace safety, well-being, and compliance. Below, you can find general information about why and how these checks are conducted.

Why are Pre-Employment Checks important?
Safety is at the heart of how we work, and we want to ensure a healthy and secure environment for all employees. We have a zero-tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use in the workplace, and testing is one of the ways we uphold this commitment.
Additionally, background checks are conducted as part of our process to help us make informed hiring decisions and ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

Drug and Alcohol Testing
If you move forward in the recruitment process, you'll be asked to take a drug and alcohol test before signing an employment contract. Your recruiter will inform you when it's time and guide you through the process.
The test is conducted through one of our healthcare partners, who have locations across Sweden and Finland, making it easy to find a convenient option. You will complete the test at the designated clinic, and the test is then processed by an accredited laboratory.
The tests includes:
- A saliva test for drugs is standard, but in rare cases, a urine test may be required due to local procedures.
- A PEth blood test for long-term alcohol consumption.
Please note that exceptionally high alcohol consumption on a single occasion can, in rare cases, lead to elevated PEth (phosphatidylethanol) levels. In light of this, we strongly recommend that candidates refrain from heavy alcohol intake—even on isolated occasions—throughout the recruitment process.
For international candidates, the process may look slightly different, but we take testing just as seriously regardless of where or when it is conducted.

Background Checks
For selected positions, a background check may be required. If applicable, your recruiter will inform you during the process.
The information reviewed, such as identity, financial, and legal data, will depend on the role you are being considered for. This means that the scope of the check may vary, ensuring that only relevant aspects are assessed.
The check is conducted by our external service provider, Scutus, who will only contact you if necessary. In cases of international checks, Scutus may also engage a subcontractor who might reach out to you directly if needed. Otherwise, you'll hear back from us once the process is complete.
