Health and Safety Engineer - Direct Reduction Plant (DRP)
The Health and Safety Engineer is the representative of the Health and Safety department in the individual operating units at our Boden location. They support the assurance of health and safe and effective operations in all areas and facilities in the organization.

We are now recruiting a Health and Safety Engineer for the Direct Reduction Plant (DRP). In our Boden plant, a towering 145-meter direct reduction tower is under construction, and will soon transform iron ore into sponge iron. In this process we will cut CO₂ emissions and enable a cleaner, greener approach to iron production. The DRP will be groundbreaking in multiple aspects. We aim to have a world class production and safety crew working with this process.

As a Health and Safety Engineer in the DRP you'll be part of a team who will set up the processes and guidelines for the health and safety work before the production starts. During production you'll work together with the operating personnel and managers to ensure that work safety always comes first.

Since the reduction of iron is quite a new process in Sweden we're very open to candidates who has previous experience within health and safety but from other fields of work, such as oil & gas, energy, hydrogen, pulp or similar areas.

Responsibilities:
The Health and Safety Engineer play an important role in:

• Supporting implementation of Site Management System and ensure that the system is continually updated and improved
• Improve workplace safety and related 'ways of working' and ensure necessary instructions and standards
• Support Stegra’s commitment to fulfill compliance with all safety regulations and requirements.
• Empower and support implementation of Stegra’s behavior-based safety concept
• Support the line organization in taking their responsibilities in health and safety
• Support investigation of workplace accidents and injuries, internal follow up and communications to the proper authorities.
• Supporting hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and control measures for operations and/or processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, occupational health & safety, or a related field.
  Experience in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment (chemical, oil & gas, energy, hydrogen, pulp, etc.)
• Knowledge with ATEX directives including classification of hazardous areas, equipment selection, and documentation requirements
• Knowledge with process gases: Proven experience in risk assessment, safe handling, and mitigation strategies related to hazardous gases in industrial environments.
• Expertise in dust explosion prevention: Solid understanding of combustible dust hazards, explosion protection principles, and implementation of preventive measures in accordance with relevant standards
• Certified education in ISO 45001 and in-depth knowledge of Swedish national safety legislation, EU Directives and standards and industry good practices
