What you’ll do
We are now recruiting a Fire Safety Lead for our Fire Safety, Rescue & Crisis organisation. This position is part of the overall responsibility for the Systematic Fire Protection Work (SBA) for Stegra’s rescue service in Boden. The overall aim is to ensure that Stegras Boden Operation organization is well set to uphold a high level of safety in the event of a fire or accident.
As a Fire Safety lead you combine both strategic and operational responsibilities, with a clear focus on preventive fire protection and rescue response. You will have an impactful role in the development and management of fire safety, while also being part of the rescue organization - providing leadership in operational situations. You will be responsible for organizational and structural fire safety issues, leading and coordinating other staff members. You'll work with implementing, manage and monitor systematic fire safety work, with everyday activities characterized by preventive efforts and a long-term safety focus.
In the operational part of the role, you will act as Incident Commander in Stegra’s internal rescue service. Here you will play a crucial role in the facility’s incident management during emergencies, acting as an expert on site-specific risks, technical solutions, process flows, and operational characteristics. Your expertise will be essential both in leading internal operations and ensuring effective collaboration with external resources during major incidents. The Fire Safety Lead will report to our Fire Safety, Rescue & Crisis Manager and work within our Safety & Security function.
Here are some examples of the core duties in this role:
- Ensure and continuously develop effective fire protection and preventive safety measures within the facility
- Implement, manage, and monitor Stegra’s systematic fire safety work to ensure compliance with internal guidelines, applicable legislation, and stakeholder requirements
- Provide expertise on fire safety risks, technical solutions, and process flows to strengthen the organization’s safety culture
- Conduct risk analyses, safety audits, and training initiatives to enhance readiness and staff competence
- Act as Incident Commander (according to duty schedule) during rescue operations, leading, coordinating, and supporting internal response teams as well as collaborating with external resources.

Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below. If you have rescue service experience but do not fully meet all of the listed requirements, we still encourage you to apply!
Must have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience and strong knowledge of fire safety in Sweden and the structure and legislation
- Fire Protection Engineer degree with RUB-education, or equivalent training (e.g. Fire Officer, Rescue Leader B, Command Course 2, Supervision A)
- Category B driver’s license.
- Fluent in Swedish and English
- Familiarity with relevant Swedish regulations (e.g. LSO, LBE, PBL, Seveso).
Good to have, but not mandatory:
- Operational experience from rescue service
- Experience in leading change and development work

Construction of our first project – an integrated plant producing green hydrogen, green iron and green steel – is well underway in Boden, Sweden.
